Ferrara Hotels are swathed in authentic northern Italian culture, a city that is away from the traditional foreign visitors' itinerary. It is a city characterised by twisting medieval cobblestoned streets, a Duomo (cathedral) with a looming Gothic facade, and a castle straight from the pages of a fairytale story complete with towers, moat and drawbridges. Guests to the city will find an extensive range of luxury hotels, many are found in historic buildings having their own story to tell, some are found in more modern high rise affairs whilst others lie in their verdant landscapes providing privacy and exclusivity.

Visiting Ferraro is very similar to enjoying an extensive art exhibition as no matter where the eye may wander, the views are festooned with ancient architectural masterpieces that have been beautifully preserved and engineered to marry well with the 21st century. The city is half medieval half Renaissance this dual landscape was the vision of oligarch Ercole dÉste who hired architect Biagio Rosetti to seamlessly meld the newer section to the old. The careful planning earned Ferraro the title of Italy's first ''modern city''. Today this captivating, anachronistic ambience is best explored on foot or bicycle.

The most relaxing way of soaking up the towns atmosphere is simply to sit in one of the pavement cafe's and watch this vivid Italian scenario play out. Shopping is found throughout the cobbled streets ranging from expensive boutiques hidden away to lighter on the budget larger chains.

The city is surrounded by ancient city walls and beyond these a green park, every Saturday morning there is an open air market set up in Piazzo Trento-Trieste with a changing weekly them-ranging from furniture to antiques to clothes to food and produce, one night a week is devoted to an open-air candy market.
